We at Direct Packaging want to do our bit for the planet and hope that the other 17 million people who watched Blue Planet II will help us achieve this by ordering compostable bags….
NatureFlex™ film is a specialist packaging film from Futamura used by Direct Packaging Ltd to convert into bags to support responsible environmental demands.
This bio-film is based on renewable resources (wood-pulp from managed plantations) and is home compostable (conforms to EN13432).
1Can Natureflex biodegrade on the shelf?
NatureFlex grades are very stable and will not biodegrade or show any loss in mechanical properties on the shelf. Biodegradation will only be initiated in a soil, compost or waste-water environment where micro-organisms are present.
2Will NatureFlex biodegrade in sea water?
The majority of NatureFlex grades will biodegrade in sea water. A number of grades have been tested in accordance with ASTM D7081-05.
3What is Anaerobic digestion?
A series of biological processes in which microorganisms break down biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen. One of the end products is biogas, which is combusted to generate electricity and heat, or can be processed into renewable natural gas and transportation fuels.
Various NatureFlex™ film types can benefit applications eg.
Fresh Fruit & vegetables,
Biscuit & Bakery
Biodegradable and compostable packaging materials are two of the new green living trends. We need to focus on making sure that what we throw out from our homes and offices is biodegradable or even compostable.
This will get us closer to the goal of making the Earth an eco-friendly place for humans and animals to live together in harmony, if we are willing to understand and invest in the future.
